welcome to Beacon
Beacon is an individualized day school for intellectually curious students in grades 3-12. We challenge our students to develop their gifts and discover their passions by engaging them in the enriched educational model for which we are known. Self-directed learning, passionate teachers, comprehensive gifted education, support for learning differences, with flexibility in course selection and design—these are only a few of Beacon’s hallmarks.
We believe that by involving students in the academic process, we can foster a resilient love of learning. Students at all grade levels participate in designing their programs and are encouraged to choose courses that inspire them. Course selection is a dynamic process based on each student’s unique interests, abilities, and ambitions. Paramount to the Beacon experience is the expectation that every student will excel academically, thrive socially, and achieve personal success.
In the Lower School, our program emphasizes higher order thinking skills, hands-on learning, a rich core curriculum, and daily enrichment opportunities. Our Middle School lays the foundation for secondary education by building a robust academic base, promoting intellectual inquiry, and emphasizing effective study skills. In the Upper School, students play a more active role in designing their programs, guided by an awareness of both college admissions requirements and personal goals.
Our campus is located near downtown Stamford, CT, and offers a host of extracurricular activities for our students, including theatre, yoga, competitive academic teams, athletics, clubs, internships, and service learning.
The Beacon School is accredited by the New England Associations of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). We are also affiliated with the following organizations:
